Adobe Photoshop Elements
Training Courses
Adobe Photoshop Elements, or just Elements as it is more usually known, is the leading digital image manipulation software package designed specifically for consumers who want to simply enhance their photos, make more extensive photo edits, organise their photos, or make complex creative photo compositions
However, Elements is based on the professional level Photoshop software, and a lot of the power of Elements is often hidden behind complex menus, made worse by the fact that any given task can usually be achieved from different menus and, indeed, in a number of different ways. For the inexperienced user this can mean more time spent searching how to achieve a task rather than actually doing it. A training course delivered by somebody who knows from experience the best way to achieve each task will enable you to discover the power of Elements without the complexity.
Course Outline
FarrowHouse Training is offering both 1 and 2 day Elements courses. The 1 Day course will focus on using the Editor for basic photo editing whilst the 2 Day course has the same first day as the 1 Day course but will also cover the Organiser and more advanced uses of the Editor.
Day 1 starts with setting up the workspace, zooming in and out of an image and using the Undo History panel for multiple levels of "undo". It then focuses on making "selections", looking at the many different tools available, and the basics of using layers. The afternoon is spent looking at the many different methods of making colour and tonal corrections to an image, and at ways of retouching an image, using techniques such as cloning, healing, dodging and burning.
Day 2 begins by looking at the Organiser, which sits separately from the Editor, and how it can best be used to organise, and subsequently find, photos for editing. There are brief sessions looking at transforming images, more advanced uses of layers and adding text. The course concludes by looking at some of the issues surrounding making high quality prints and discussing working with RAW images and how to use the RAW dialog box.
These intensive courses are totally "hands on" and use real images – good and bad – to practice on, so that at the end of the course you will be fully prepared to tackle even the most daunting tasks in your own environment.
