I trained as an electronics engineer and received a Doctorate in 1979. I have spent most of my working life in the optoelectronics industry, moving over the years from engineering to management. During this time I always felt it was a key part of the job to pass my knowledge on to others, and enjoyed my role as a mentor to more junior members of the team. So, when the company started moving its manufacturing facilities offshore, with the inevitable redundancies looming, my decision was easy start a new career combining my hobbies in photography, computers and Photoshop with my skills in training and working with people. And so FarrowHouse Training was born! I felt it was important to demonstrate that starting FarrowHouse Training was not just a hobby, and with that in mind I took my Photoshop knowledge to a professional level by becoming an Adobe Certified Expert to see what that means have a look at the Adobe Certified page. Not content with that, I then obtained a City & Guilds teaching qualification (Level 3, Certificate in Delivering Learning (7302)) which means that I am also recognised by Adobe as an Adobe Certified Instructor - again see the Adobe Certified page for details. I am listed on the Adobe website in their section on finding a Training Provider - you can see my entry by clicking here. All course participants are asked to complete a brief online feedback form at the end of the course, run by a company called Metrics that Matter, and based on the feedback from participants throughout 2008, I received an average score of 8.3 on a scale where 1 is rated as "poor" and 9 is rated as "outstanding". Feedback from participants throughout 2009 has given me an increased score of 8.6. For the courseware (ie course clarity, technical depth, effectiveness and relevance of the practical work) I scored 8.4 in 2008, increasing to 8.5 in 2009. Taking these two categories together puts me in the top 25% of all Adobe instructors worldwide. Finally, in case you were wondering, why the name FarrowHouse Training? The decision to start a new career was made whilst on holiday on the
