Adobe Certified

Your tutor, Mike, is an Adobe Certified Instructor, Photoshop. What does this mean? It means that you can be comfortable in the knowledge that you will be taught by somebody that Adobe has certified as having a good knowledge of all aspects of the Photoshop programme, and who has a recognised teaching qualification. Unfortunately, there is no similar certification for Photoshop Elements.

To become an Adobe Certified Instructor, you first have to become an Adobe Certified Expert and to do this you have to sit, and pass, a 2 hour exam set by Adobe. The exam covers all aspects of the relevant Adobe product, and is an in depth test which you can only pass if you have studied and used the software at length.

Adobe also ensure that you can’t take the exam once and  continue to call yourself “certified” long after the programme has been superseded by a later version. As soon as a new major version is released you have just 90 days to re-sit the exam to keep the certification up to date. If not, you have to spell out that you only have certification in an old version.

In addition to being an Adobe Certified Expert in one, or more, Adobe products, if you also hold a government recognised teaching qualification then Adobe will acknowledge this by allowing you to call yourself an Adobe Certified Instructor.
