Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do I need to bring anything with me?
A. No, everything you need will be provided, including lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

Q. I see you provide lunch, what happens if I’ve got a special dietary requirement?
A. Let me know before the course and I will be happy to provide a suitable option.

Q. I’m new to digital imaging and I’ve only just bought the software, will I be able to cope with the course?
A. There is no doubt you would get more benefit from the course if you had some familiarity with the software. However, both the Elements and Photoshop courses start with a basic introduction, so prior knowledge of the software is not essential. If you are still concerned then you may wish to consider a 1-to-1 session - contact me to discuss details.

Q. I’ve been using Photoshop (or Elements) for a couple of years but still feel I would like to be taught how to use it properly, is your course too basic for me?
A. Whilst both the Photoshop and Elements courses start with a basic introduction, they soon move onto the detailed aspects of the software, so even people who have some experience of them will still find plenty of new commands, tools and techniques included in the course.

Q. Will I just be sitting and watching how to do things?
A. Absolutely not! The course is totally “hands-on” and you will be working on the images provided throughout the day.

Q. Will I have to share a computer?
A. No, everybody who attends will sit at a desk with their own computer terminal.

Q. If I'm the only person to book on a course, will it still run?
A. Yes. As there is a maximum of 3 people on any one course, it is inevitable that sometimes there will only be 1 person booked to attend, and so I plan to run the courses regardless of whether there are 1, 2 or 3 people attending.

Q. I’ll never remember everything I’m taught, will I have to take notes?
A. No, you will be given a set of detailed notes which covers everything in the course. Whilst some people do like to take their own notes, your time will be much better spent practicing what you are learning!

Q. I’m worried I won’t be able to keep up with other people on the course.
A. Don’t worry! With a maximum of 3 people on a course, it will feel like you’re getting personal tuition.

Q. What happens if I get stuck on something when I get home?
A. Ring or email me with your query. Included in the course fee is after-course support for as long as you need it.

Q. The course agenda looks like I’ll just be learning how to use the tools, but I’d rather work on techniques.
A. The whole day is spent working on real images and you learn lots of techniques as you learn how to use each tool or command.

Q. Can I bring my own photos to work on?
A. Unfortunately not as it would be very difficult to cover all the topics during the day if everybody was working on different images. However, if you particularly wanted help on some of your own images then I am happy to discuss a 1-to-1 session with you.

Q. I already have some experience and don’t need everything which is included in the course, what should I do?
A. I am happy to discuss a tailored course which suits your particular skill level.

Q. I am unable to travel to South Devon , will you travel to me?
A. Providing you have somewhere suitable to set up the computers, I am happy to run the course at you home or workplace. Contact me to discuss details.
