The ever increasing list of tools and commands included with each new release of Photoshop Elements has meant that, with the latest versions 7 and 8, it is now very difficult to cover even the basics of the whole program in a 1 day course. So, new for Photoshop Elements 7, and now for the latest release Photoshop Elements 8, training is being offered with a choice of 1 or 2 Day courses.
The 1 Day course will focus solely on using the Editor for everyday photo editing and enhancement. The 2 Day course combines the 1 Day course with sessions using the Organiser for sorting, tagging and managing the photos on your computer, as well as further training on using the Editor. As the first day of the 2 Day is course is the 1 Day course itself, it may be that on the first day there will be some participants who will be leaving at the end of the day and others who will be carrying on to do the second day of the course.
The 1 Day course starts by looking at the basic features of using the Editor interface and some of the basic palettes. It then moves on to look at the two most fundamental aspects of using image editing software - techniques for making "selections" and the use of Layers. The bulk of the afternoon is spent enhancing images - removing objects with the Clone and Healing tools and enhancing contrast and colours with the Levels and Curves commands amongst others. There are also sessions on transforming images and adding filters and effects, including using the new Smart Brush tools. Although the whole day is "hands on", there are also a number of exercises for you to practice what you have learnt.
The second day of the 2 Day course starts with a detailed look at the Organiser and how you can create Catalogs to manage your photos, tag and find photos, and how you can perform Creating and Sharing tasks such as attaching photos to an email, making a slide show and creating a Photo Book. Returning to the Editor, there are then sessions on using the painting and colouring tools, adding text to images, and understanding the concept of "resolution" in relation to making prints. There is also a further session on layers and how you can make a montage, and a session on how to use Elements with RAW images. Also, as with the first day, there are exercises for you to practice your skills.
Please note that although each day of the 2 Day course is stand alone, the second day of the 2 Day course cannot be taken alone, as it builds on skills and knowledge gained in the first day.

These courses are designed for anybody who wants to use Photoshop Elements to “modify” their photos whether taken with a digital camera or scanned from film where the modifications can be anything from simple tasks like removing red eye to more complex tasks such as replacing a sky, converting to Black & White or the restoration of old, damaged photos.
Because Photoshop Elements is the "cut down" version of Photoshop, many of the tools and techniques are the same. So this course would also be a useful primer if you ever intend to use the full version of Photoshop in the future.
If you would prefer a one to one session, or would like the course to be held at your own home (or place of work), please call Mike on 01803 528663 to discuss your requirements. Also, if you would like the course customised in some way to suit your particular needs then please feel free to call.
